YOU ARE HERE…

Black in the Gorge formed in 2021 in response to concerns of isolation and loneliness among Black youth. One young person shared, “I feel like I am living in a fishbowl”.  The numbers of Black youth and families in the Gorge is small, but in each community, large or small, we are here!

As our group began to raise money and support, we realized that we could help lift others by establishing the first scholarship for Gorge residents who self-identify as Black/African American, Black bi-racial or Black multi-racial and is housed at the Gorge Community Foundation (GCF).
